Maya Exhibiton
Maya: The Great Jaguar Rises Exhibition - May 17 – December 31, 2019
3 Things You'll Learn At Maya: The Great Jaguar Rises

For the first time in North America, rare artifacts from the Maya civilization will be on display outside of Guatemala.

Spotlighting the mystery, legacy and resilience of one of the world's greatest civilizations, Maya: The Great Jaguar Rises features more than 300 precious jade, ceramic, gold, stone and textile artifacts. Coinciding with UNESCO's Year of Indigenous Languages, the exhibition will feature 30 Maya languages that are still spoken today by almost half the population of Guatemala.

Here's three things you can learn on your visit to Maya: The Great Jaguar Rises exhibition you'll learn:

  1. How to write and make a Mayan sentence using six glyphs.
  2. Discover your Maya birthday using this civilizations complex and accurate calendar system.
  3. Put your spice knowledge to the test and explore the original recipe for Mayan's delicious drinking chocolate (what we now know as hot chocolate!)
Fall Themes-1
Fall on Vancouver Island means colourful foliage, mild weather and delicious culinary experiences.
Inspiring Stories to Make You Fall In Love with Greater Victoria

Tee Up Year Round - Here in Victoria, we golf 365 days a year. While the weather starts to turn in other destinations, we're still tee-ing up with panoramic views at Cedar Hill Golf Course and playing the oasis-like course at The Westin Bear Mountain Golf Resort & Spa just outside of town. Take your time and enjoy 18 holes at any of the 11 beautiful courses on Vancouver Island.

Sipping Seaside at Sunset - New to the capital city's culinary scene is Boom + Batten. Opening May 31, Executive Chef Sam Harris will be serving cuisine that celebrates sustainable sources grounded in Pacific Northwest culture – from seafood to fresh vegetables and meats from local producers. Explore Vancouver Island's bounty this fall with carefully crafted dishes all while taking in the breathtaking ocean sunsets at the Victoria International Marina

Nature Running Its Course - Once a year, the Goldstream Salmon Run sees thousands of colourful Pacific salmon forge their way up the world-class salmon spawning stream that is Goldstream - it's a sight not to be missed! Massive trees, majestic waterfalls, a meandering river that meets the sea, birds and flowers are only a few of the attractions that draw people to Goldstream Provincial Park, a mere 16 kilometres from downtown Victoria.
