May 29: Secondary School Math Placement and 6th-7th Grade Math Transition Parent Coffee
Please join the Upper School math department on Wednesday, May 29 from 8:30 - 9:30 a.m. in the Dodge Writing Center to learn about Brookwood's math program and how our graduates fare in their math placements at secondary schools and the two levels of pre-algebra offered to our 7th grade. During the second half of this discussion, Elise Koretz (math department coordinator), Monika Carbochova (6th and 7th grade math teacher), Brian Carver (7th and 8th grade math teacher), and Annie Johnson will focus specifically on 7th grade math. We'll discuss why Brookwood has two levels of math, the criteria we use to determine math readiness, and how you can talk to your children about their math readiness. The presentation will be followed by a Q&A session.
