Apply for a steering committee position: Did you know that many CHEST leaders got their start on NetWork Steering Committees? Elections for steering committees are occurring now through May 28. Enter your name here if you are interested!

Participate in the NetWorks Challenge: Contribute on behalf of the Occupational and Environmental Health NetWork for the CHEST Foundation’s NetWork Challenge annual drive to support clinical research and patient education efforts. Each NetWork will be awarded a travel grant to give to a trainee or other designee for every $5,000 contributed to the CHEST Foundation.

Learning opportunities

We encourage our membership to attend the CHEST Annual Meeting, where several lectures along with NetWork featured lectures and experiences will highlight the topics of interest in the area of practice operations. Registration for CHEST 2019 in New Orleans, Louisiana, is open. 

More educational opportunities include CHEST Live Learning courses and CHEST Board Review, which are found in the CHEST Store.

I am the current Chair of the Occupational and Environmental Health NetWork Steering Committee. trained in occupational and environmental medicine (OEM) at the Harvard School of Public Health, earning my Masters in Public Health as part of my training. One of my most memorable experiences as an OEM trainee was spending a month at the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health in their Respiratory Diseases Division in Morgantown, WV. As part of that month, I traveled to New Orleans to participate in a National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health/Centers for Disease Control and Prevention study about personal protective equipment use during clean-up activities in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina. I then went on to train in pulmonary and critical care medicine in the Harvard Combined Fellowship Program. I attended the CHEST Annual Meeting for the first time as a pulmonary fellow and became more involved as a junior faculty at Yale, becoming a Fellow of the College. served on the
Occup
ational and Environmental Health NetWork Steering Committee since 2015. As the current Chair, had the opportunity to participate in the Council of NetWorks and in planning the programming for CHEST 2019. also serve on the ATS/CHEST Joint Clinical Practice Committee, elected through the American Thoracic Society. The Clinical Practice Committee monitors payment, billing, and regulatory matters that affect the clinical practice of pulmonary, sleep, and critical care medicine in the United States. Since 2016, have been the Section Chief of Pulmonary, Critical Care, and Sleep Medicine at Norwalk Hospital, a community-based teaching hospital in Southern Connecticut and part of Nuvance Health.
