News From the NetWorks

Note from the NetWork Chair…

Hello Women’s Health NetWork! I just returned from the CHEST Spring Leadership Meeting and am very excited to share news with all of you.

The Women’s Health NetWork was far and away the #1 NetWork tweeting at CHEST Annual Meeting 2018 with over 100 tweets! That is such robust engagement thank you to all who participated. I would love to keep this momentum going, so please continue to use #CHESTWomen and @accpchest in anything related to lung disease when you tweet. CHEST is also on Instagram (accpchest) and Facebook (accpchest). Social media is a great platform to highlight your interests, research, as well as to share articles and news stories related to women’s lung issues and health as well as sex differences in critical illness.

Our NetWork was very busy in March. As many of you may know, we had a webinar on “Sleep in Women Across the Life Span” as part of the Women & Pulmonary initiative at CHEST. Dr. Ghada Bourjeily was the moderator, and panelists were Drs. Mariam Louis, Bilgay Balserak, and me.

In March, I was honored to co-moderate a Women and Pulmonary webinar on women’s lung health for CHEST on Facebook Live.  Our panelists were Dr. Patricia Rivera, Dr. Marilyn Glassberg, and Dr. Candace Huebert. This was sponsored by the Women & Pulmonary Advisory Board. The entire session can be viewed on Facebook, YouTube, and Instagram.

Conquer the challenge and champion lung health: NetWorks Challenge 2019

The NetWorks Challenge is an opportunity to engage the CHEST NetWorks in a philanthropic competition. This fundraising initiative encourages members of the CHEST NetWorks to give back to their chest community and improve patient outcomes by donating to the CHEST Foundation in honor of their NetWork.

We have 3 months, now until the end of June, to donate. The CHEST Foundation has a specific grant for women’s health, so we should all be supportive of this endeavor. In the past the Women’s Health NetWork has won several CHEST Foundation NetWork Challenges, so let’s keep that streak going!

There are several ways to win. For every $5,000 raised, the NetWork will get one travel grant. The NetWork with either the most money raised or the largest percentage of members who donate can get another travel grant. These travel grants (we have won several) can be used for an invited speaker or trainee, depending on how the NetWork Steering Committee votes. Please donate, even if it is a small amount; it is very helpful to our mission to improve women’s lung health.

Get to know your leadership!
