Our after-school courses, led by dynamic and creative teaching staff, provide students with the opportunity to discover new interests, develop specialized skills, and have fun! Our Spring 2019 after-school enrichment class descriptions are available online now. Please sign up using the Parent Resources Server by Monday, March 25. Just a friendly reminder that some classes fill up very quickly. For that reason, registration is on a first-come, first-served basis. Please contact Anya Ciarametaro with any questions.

March 29: Dress Code Update

Starting next Friday, March 29, Middle and Upper School students can wear relaxed dress every Friday. This means the following are OK: blue jeans, shirts with graphics/images/words consistent with Brookwood's values, Brookwood spirit wear, and sweatshirts with and without hoods.

March 29: Second Grade World Language coffee

Join Carrie Woodruff and Nancy Evans in the Dodge Writing Center from 8:00 - 8:45 a.m. They will discuss language choice and answer questions that might be helpful in making a decision for your child.

March 31: Family Meetup at Appleton Farms

Join the PA Outreach Committee for a volunteer morning at Appleton Farms on Sunday, March 31 from 10:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. Families will participate in a barn clean-up and will also have the chance to brush the goats and bunnies. Younger children are encouraged to bring along books as we’ve heard the bunnies enjoy being read to! Interested in attending? Email Jess Lenci.

April 8 or 10: Mandatory Seventh Grade Student Life Online Workshop for Parents and their Students

During our April "Life Online" workshops, we will share current information and research about the potential risks of life online, and how to mitigate those risks. As an educational institution our role is to educate! Beyond sharing this information, it is ultimately a family’s decision how they choose to help their children navigate the digital world. However, the State of Massachusetts requires schools to provide this education to students and families. And by law we are required to get involved when issues are brought to our attention. We want to create a balanced approach to this education, helping shape Internet-savvy students who will have the skills to succeed now and in the future, while avoiding the common traps that lie ahead. To this end, creating an opportunity for community conversation between parents, and between parents and students, has also proven to be an invaluable resource and further everyone's understanding about the issues and individual family choices.

We ask that all parents select one of the following two nights to join us in an engaging presentation and conversation with other parents and students on either Monday, April 8 or Wednesday, April 10 from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. We ask that, at least, one parent attend for each of our 7th graders.

Please click the link to fill out the form information to tell us which night you and your 7th grader will attend. Students are welcome to stay after school in a supervised study hall and will be provided with dinner at 5:30 p.m.

April 11: Parent Education: Strengths-Based Parenting

Join Jill and Chris Soucy (parents of Ella ’25), both Gallup-Certified Strengths Coaches, on Thursday, April 11 at 8:30 a.m. for an introduction to strengths-based parenting research and practices to gain awareness and appreciation for your own, and your child’s, innate talents.

May 11: Save the Date for Battle of the Bands

Join us from 6:30 - 10:30 p.m. on Saturday, May 11 for an exciting evening filled with bubbling beverages, live auction bidding and bands battling—all for a good cause! This not-to-miss event is an opportunity to connect with fellow parents for a fun night out while supporting Brookwood School. This year's fundraising event will feature delicious catering, craft cocktails and raise the paddle, along with Brookwood's Battle of the Bands. More event details to follow.
