.id 2016 Census update

We've sent you this email because you asked for updates when new features and data are added to .id's free online tools.

In this update

  • You can now compare between small areas in the community profile
  • If your community profile has Additional areas, they are now updated with 2016 Census data
  • Second release Census data has been released from the ABS

Benchmark thy neighbour

We had feedback from a number of our community profile users that you'd like to see how two suburbs in your LGA compare.

Well, now you can!

We've written a short blog with all the details, including a quick guide (with pictures) on how to use this feature in your community profile.

2016 data now in Additional Areas

If your community profile has the Additional areas module, we've now updated additional areas with 2016 Census data.

Additional areas are used to provide a basic demographic profile for communities that are part of a larger local government area (often small regional or rural towns), to make sure the nuances of the local community aren't lost.

Second release data from the ABS

The ABS has now released their second round of data from last year's Census, including topics related to employment, industry, occupation, journey to work, place of usual residence and qualifications.

We're busy updating our online resources with this latest data, but in the meantime you can read some initial insights from this release on our blog.
