Microsoft has acquired TikTok. Just kidding! Too soon? Microsoft has acquired ZeniMax Media though, Randy Moss style... straight cash homie. $7.5B of it. ZeniMax is the parent company of Bethesda Softworks, a major games publisher. On mobile, Bethesda's games have been downloaded 2 million times in the last 90 days, along with almost $2 million generated via IAP revenue.

Birthday cards are a thing of the past

If you truly liked your mom or your best friend, you'd get them a Cameo from a C-list celebrity like the rest of us. Whether it's from Colin Mochrie, Johnny Damon, Gilbert Gottfried, Robert Maschio or someone else half the people reading this email haven't heard of, make sure you get them to wish your loved ones a happy birthday.

Cameo is a platform where niche celebrities, or used to be A-list celebrities, can earn money by wishing people a happy birthday or giving them a pep talk. It can be pretty surprising and exciting to get a personalized message from someone you idolize. These short videos share well amongst friends on social too. Cameo was already growing but the pandemic gave it some extra juice as people wanted to send well wishes to others they could not be with at the time, and celebrities have found more time on their hands as well.

Do they like it or did they forget?

Yes, this is the age old question for digital subscriptions. At the onset of the pandemic, Peloton offered its mobile app subscription service free for 90 days (was previously 30) as a gesture of goodwill and good marketing. This resulted in a 245% increase in downloads and I was skeptical it would turn into revenue. As we see in the chart below, the $12.99 subscription fees started to roll in. The app even hit an all-time high for single day revenue ($40k) last month. In case you were not sure, you can use the mobile app without owning the bike. It has in-home workouts, yoga and more. If you dug into more of our engagement data, you could form a strong hypothesis on whether or not these users were actually using and liking the app or if they just forgot to cancel the subscription.
