PMA Companies Home Office
A Message to PMA Companies Clients and Distribution Partners

I hope this message finds you safe and well. We have reached the halfway point of a challenging year and I would like to provide you with an update on our business and operations and speak candidly about the pandemic.

Employee safety has been our first priority since mid-March, when we transitioned virtually all of our employees to work-from-home arrangements. We are closely monitoring the pandemic and its effects throughout the country. Given recent trends and the considerable uncertainty that exists, we see no reason to return employees to their offices for the near future. Our client-facing staff is beginning to engage in-person with clients, brokers and agents, subject to public health requirements and internal guidance.

We remain fully engaged with the marketplace, and are delivering solutions to our clients and brokers every day. Our insurance and TPA businesses are growing and on July 13, we began handling workers’ compensation claims in the state of California. This is a significant milestone for our company and represents the next step in our geographic expansion plans.

Many clients have had the opportunity to work closely with our Underwriting, Account Executive, Claims, Claims Client Services, and Risk Control staff in the past few months. The engagements have been focused, substantive and solution-oriented, and dealt with matters related and unrelated to COVID-19.

Earlier, I referenced the uncertainty that exists in our country with regards to the pandemic. While there are a range of opinions available in the news and on social media, it has become clear to me that this situation is going to persist, will continue to have a considerable impact on the health system, and requires businesses to prepare for a variety of scenarios and potentially change their plans at a moment’s notice. I am especially concerned about clients who have employees regularly working in harm’s way.
