KIPS TIPS May 2020

Big Changes Are Coming Soon for the KIPS Tool and Training...

Hello KIPSters, I have good news about changes coming soon!

Why KIPS Changes? I will be retiring in the next few months as I approach my 70th birthday.  We have come a long way together as parenting assessment, evidence-based tools, program outcome data, and online training have become common features in our field. It’s been my honor to work with you virtually and my pleasure to discover so many warm-hearted folks who devote themselves to building trust and support with their families. I am delighted to announce that a unique partnership has formed between two organizations in Omaha to guide the KIPS tool and training to meet your needs in the future.

Why These Two Partners? Appsky is a software development company located in Omaha, Nebraska that specializes in mobile and web app development, website development, and user-friendly design. They are eager to take care of the daily KIPS operations, such as orders for training and recertification, technical support, and updating the KIPS websites. The Interdisciplinary Center for Program Evaluation at the University of Nebraska Medical Center’s Munroe-Meyer Institute (UNMC) has been doing KIPS assessments within program evaluations for home-based programs across Nebraska for ten years. Their team of early childhood educators, special education educators, home visitors, and psychologists work closely with innovative programs that serve families and young children.  They are KIPS champions whose expertise in child development make them the ideal complement to Appsky and a great resource for KIPSters.

Rest assured, we’ve been planning for months to make this a smooth transition with minor changes at the outset.  The KIPS websites will remain at the same addresses:

All your KIPS certification information, accounting and site license agreements will be transferred to Appsky

What’s New?  Beginning on Monday, August 3, 2020, there will be a new contact person, Jade Jensen, jade@appsky.io, 580-284-1196, to help you with any questions.  To guide future improvements, Appsky and UNMC would like to hear from you. Watch for their email mid-June with a brief survey to invite your feedback and suggestions regarding KIPS improvements!

While it will be a welcome change to join Phil, our dog Bodhi and our ducklings in the vegetable garden on our small farm, I will miss the conversations I’ve had with many of you over the years.  We appreciate your incredible commitment to building nurturing parenting for all children.

Be well,

Marilee CAC 5-2015
