Lufthansa Announces Traveler Face Mask Requirement
Thursday, April 30, 2020
Lufthansa Group has announced that they will be requiring all travelers to wear face masks, beginning May 4th. Lufthansa further announced that wearing face masks will be mandatory through August 31, 2020.
This rule applies not only while on board Lufthansa aircraft but also while in the airport. Lufthansa Group stated, "Airports that can reliably maintain the required physical distance are exempt from this rule. Lufthansa is following the official regulations of many European countries, who have made the wearing of face masks mandatory in public."
The airline is asking that passengers "bring your own face mask and, for the sake of sustainability, we recommend a reusable cloth mask. Of course, you may use any type of face covering, such as simple disposable masks or even scarves."
