Contracts and Grants: Mandatory Summer Salary Training
Reminder, all faculty earning summer salary from a ledger 5 project (contract or grant) are required to complete online summer salary training through the Reporter system prior to receiving any summer salary payment. This requirement also applies to any staff or administrator who will initiate, enter, or approve summer salary transactions in the Additional Compensation system. The deadline for completing training is May 8, 2020. If you will receive, initiate, or approve summer salary from a grant and have not received an email from the Reporter system about this training please email Brian Thomas at bmthoma6@ncsu.edu to request registration.
Does My Project Need IRB Approval?

The IRB review process begins by asking the question of whether or not the proposed work is research as defined by federal regulations. For this purpose, research is defined as a systematic investigation, including research development, testing, and evaluation, designed to develop or contribute to generalizable knowledge. If an activity does not meet this definition of research, it is not subject to IRB review. To help determine whether or not a project meets this definition of research, the IRB office has provided guidance. Please see the following documents:

For assistance or a formal determination of whether or not IRB approval is required for your project, please reach out to the IRB Office. Doing so saves time and effort while ensuring ethical and compliant practices.
