American Airlines has announced that it will automatically extend any elite status for AAdvantage® members to January 31, 2022. All AAdvantage® elite status will be updated by May 15, 2020.
The threshold for elite qualification has been lowered so travelers will be able to re-qualify for AAdvantage® status more easily.
American Airlines also announced the following:
Elite members will receive a $400 credit to an American Airlines Vacations package
AAdvantage® Awards booked by May 21, 2020 will have more flexibility with changes and reinstatement fees waived
