BlackPoint is Moving!

This summer, BlackPoint Seattle will be moving the corporate office to a larger location in Kent, WA. With the lease on the current Seattle office set to expire, and the need for more space to accommodate our rapid growth, the decision to move just fell into place.

Starting mid July, the move to 20435 72nd Avenue South will be phased so as not to disrupt support of our client services. Everything is scheduled to be transferred over to the new location by August 1st.

BlackPoint Seattle's new space was designed with growth in mind...not just for our internal staff, but for your business as well. As you grow, so do we, and we look forward to sharing this new location with you! Keep and eye out for an invitation to our open house in early fall!

Death in 60 days!

We've been talking A LOT about Microsoft ending support for Windows Server 2003 this July, but as of today, nearly 1 million companies are still running on this outdated server.

So what happens if you're still using WS 2003 past the expiration date? Like expired food, you probably won't die, but you definitely open your business up to all kinds of risks. And why take the risk?!?

recent survey found nearly one in three enterprises plan to continue to run WS 2003 after the July 14th deadline, leaving an estimated 2.7 million servers unprotected! This puts your customer records, trade secrets, and sensitive data in jeopardy. Hackers prey on unprotected servers, and without Microsoft’s updates, patches, and service packs, you’re opening the door for a security breach. As we have all seen in the news with SonyTargetBlue Cross, and more, data breaches are a nightmare no company wants to face.

If a security breach doesn’t scare you, what about compliance? Running WS 2003 after the deadline means your business is non-compliant via PCI, HIPPA and other government and industry regulations. If you’re not PCI compliant, Visa and MasterCard will no longer service your business.

Are you Compliant?itad_regulatory_compliance

Ever wonder why everyone is “moving to the cloud“? For many businesses, cloud services offer added productivity, security, privacy, and an obvious cost benefit because you shift from capital expenditure to operational expenditure.

However, you also move from internal security to external operational security, which is where security compliance becomes more important than ever.
