Eftpos NZ finished up 2019 on a really positive note. Our network had its biggest ever processing day on Christmas Eve, processing nearly 2.3m transactions in a single day - that's 23% more transactions than 2018's busiest day! Paymark also saw record-breaking volumes across their network, a good sign of local consumer confidence and the growth in usage of electronic payment methods.

This week I joined the panel at the Retail NZ Payments forum in Auckland. The forum highlighted for me that merchants are increasingly aware of the role payment technology plays in optimising their customer experience. To meet the demand for advanced omnichannel payment, analytics and integration capabilities we are currently working on bringing a new range of solutions and services to market. These new offerings will give your business the competitive edge you need to not only adapt, but thrive in this changing retailing landscape. We will be sharing more information about these new solutions over the coming months.

Lastly, like all of you, we are keeping a close eye on the developing impact of the Covid-19 Coronavirus – particularly in terms of supporting our customers in the hospitality and tourism sectors through what appears likely to be a very challenging trading period.
