FCC Authorizes Deployments in 3.5 GHz CBRS Band, Opening up Billions in Economic Opportunity for the U.S.

A historic milestone has been reached as ICD (Initial Commercial Deployment) of the 3.5 GHz CBRS band begins. ICD represents the final developmental step in the OnGo ecosystem, a service that is set to give U.S. businesses increased capacity and coverage for their voice, data, and video communications.

Claude Aiken, president and CEO of WISPA, reflected on the FCC's announcement, stating that "today, after years of hard work and development, ICD of CBRS shared spectrum is a reality. We want to thank all those individuals for their magnificent efforts to make that happen."

While the ICD phase is planned to commence over a 30-day period, commercial deployments will continue beyond this phase; with certification and comprehensive commercial service occurring in the fourth quarter of 2019.
