Copy of EE Newsletter Header (11)

Welcome to the fourth edition of the Education Innovation in the Lone Star State Newsletter! This quarterly newsletter connects Texas leaders who are innovating at the school, district, and state level. Our purpose is to share the amazing work of the districts we partner with and to inspire and guide others to lead innovative work.

In this edition you will hear about an upcoming free Personalized Learning Academy for Texas leaders, our work with a school district who just officially launched blended learning and an opportunity to learn more strategies to retain your best talent.

We are bringing The National Academy for Personalized Learning to the Houston area in a few weeks and there are still a few spots available to register. The PL Academy is a one-day professional development event designed for district leaders at all stages of personalized learning implementation. This event is in partnership with Google for Education and Klein ISD. District leaders from Texas are invited to join us and learn more about personalized learning, leadership strategies, and ways to support innovation. The event will take place from 9:00 AM until 2:00 PM with lunch provided, as well as frameworks, resources, and swag from Google for Education and Education Elements. Registration closes October 11, so make sure to sign up today!

Atlanta ISD Designing Classrooms with Students at the Center

After a month of summer break to reflect on their designs for Blended Learning classrooms as part of the MIZ grant, Atlanta ISD hit the ground running for the 2019-2020 school year! During a recent Launch Workshop, teachers reflected on the ups and downs, twists and turns, and big wins of BL implementation already happening in the first months of school. The workshop included opportunities to revisit the design thinking process, with Journey Maps to empathize with student and teacher experience, breakout sessions to dive into Targeted Instruction and Station Rotation models, and time to refine the instructional designs they created in June. One teacher reflected that while they initially had reservations about shifting their teaching, they already see that they are "really going to love teaching this way."

We are so eager to continue to see the innovation and enthusiasm over the course of the school year at AISD–Go Rabbits!

Join Us: 8 Design Elements of Teacher Retention for School and District Leaders

When we attended the txEDCON19 conference hosted by TASA and TASB in September, many of the sessions we attended asked the question, “How do we retain and engage our people?” Education Elements invites you to our upcoming Teacher Retention Leadership Institute to support district and school leaders in thinking through ways to improve the way teachers are recruited, trained, and retained. This two-day institute is based around our 8 Design Elements of Teacher Retention and will offer frameworks, resources, and tactics for improving teacher recruitment and retention based on best practices for employee engagement inside and outside of the education sector.

Register soon to secure your spot as space is extremely limited. We welcome you to join us on your own or with your team.

Do You Attend Meetings All Day and Get Little Work Done?

Do you attend meetings that consistently start late or go longer than the scheduled time? Do you find your team not getting to the important strategic conversations and decisions needed? Are you spending a lot of time covering content? It sounds like many of the meetings we have attended, too, and we would like to work with you to create more meaningful meetings. Education Elements has introduced a Meeting Audit Tool that also includes someone from our team joining in on a few meetings and providing a detailed report including suggestions on how to improve the valuable time spent in meetings moving forward. Reach out to us today for more information.
