The Tinder of China

We already know Tinder continues to be a money machine and that it's trying to break into the Eastern markets. Especially in China, it will have to compete with the likes of Tantan. Before I get into it, you're wondering about the dip in the graph. The app was removed from the app stores by regulatory authorities to improve its moderation and remove users who were bad actors. But it's back and booming again, experiencing its highest level of revenue since launch in 2014. Tantan has ice breaking games and enables users to send video and voice messages. It is owned by Momo (who also owns the deepfake app, Zao) which trades on NASDAQ.

Class has started, please take out your phones

I remember in high school, teachers would tell us all to silence our phones and put them away. Mobile phones were a distraction from learning everything in our textbooks or up on the whiteboard. Today, the use of classroom mobile apps is growing. We looked at U.S. downloads during the crucial period of July 1st through August 31st. Downloads of the top 5 classroom apps are up 225% since 2015. These apps are being used both inside and outside of the classroom for educational purposes. Teachers, parents and students can send and receive messages and attachments to each other. Teachers can also administer and collect homework through the app.
