Sustaining a Profit Improving Loss Prevention Program

Too often we see existing loss prevention initiatives focused on reacting to issues. This "whack a mole" or “firefighting” approach is often the result of an underfunded, under supported department, or the perceived need of a company to show activity and apprehension results to prove the existence of a department.

The primary goal of a loss prevention function should not be to apprehend the errant shoplifter or dishonest employee; it is to prevent losses from happening in the first place.
